Norilsk Nickel Polar Division to modernize metallurgical capacities
Polar Division of MMC Norilsk Nickel intends to increase ores exploration and non-ferrous metals output. Accordinrg to Evgeny Muravev, Director General of Polar Division if in 2010 ore exploration reached 16 million tons whereas in 2011 it is planned to explorate 16,5 million tons. 70% of the total 2010 investments (32,7 bullion roubles or about $1 bullion) will be spent on mineral base development from drilling to buying of the necessary equipment. Maslovsky deposit ores processing factory is planned to be built soon.

According to Evgenie Muraveva, the non-ferrous output reached 196 thousand tons of nickel and 348 thousand tons of copper in 2010. Copper and nickel output should remain stable in the next few years while in 2016 its growth is expected. In addition to that the Polar Division is shuting down its melting capacities at Nickel plant by 2015, shutting down of the copper plant will follow. Thus, melting capacities will be concentrated at Nadezhdinsky metal plant where employees of similar manufactures will be transfered from Nickel and Copper plants (nickel and copper electrolize, however, will remain).
