Russian Foundry Products Market Tends to Expand

By 2015 consumption of aluminium profiles in the Russian building complex can grow up to 340 thousand tons, flats - up to 80 thousand tons - Mr. Makarov, Scientific Adviser of Alusil, has given such forecast at the international conference “Aluminium Casting”, which has opened today. In his opinion, the grpwth in aluminium consumption can also be caused by the railway mechanical engineering for some enterprises of the industry are engaged in engineering of railway cars of aluminium semi-finished products project.

In I. Dibrov’s (President of Russian Foundrymen’s Association) estimation, the share of aluminium alloys in the total amount of foundry production equaled to 67.2 % in 2006 which is equivalent to 340 thousand tons approx. High pressure casting accounts for 45% of the total output of alloys, low pressure casting - 6%, permanent mold casting - 33%, sand casting - 16%. According to forecasts, cast products output will reach 450-500 thousand tons by 2012.

According to both speakers, rates of growth in aluminium cast products output could be higher but for a few factors such as shortage of high-quality equipment at the enterprises and lack of orders from a number of major industries.
