VIZ-Stal launches new product line
NLMK’s subsidiary VIZ-Stal LLC (Ekaterinburg) has launched the production of 0.23 mm thick transformer steel sheets, enabling VIZ-Stal to enter a new rapidly growing market of high-power transformer components.
This new high-tech product boasts lower magnetic losses, and to make its production possible, a new higher Mn steel grade was developed by NLMK’s specialists. The cold-rolled transformer steel production process was improved in VIZ-Stal’s cold-rolling shop.
Currently NLMK enhances hot-rolling modes for semi-finished rolled steel, as well as steel treatment processes at VIZ-Stal.
NLMK has already arranged the initial shipment of this new product to its customers.

Transformer steel is used for a wide range of transformer cores applied in the power engineering industry. At its production site in Lipetsk, NLMK currently manufactures steel covered with heat-resistant insulation coating between 0.23 and 0.35 mm thick and up to 960 mm wide . The company also produces special transformer steel between 0.15 and 0.80 mm thick for high-power electric motors.
