VSW, Gubakha Coke and CMW Report Its Operating Results

In 2008, VSW produced 1,395,058 tn of pipes of various grades, which is 18.3% lower than in 2007 (1,707,726 tn). VSW manufactured 734,961 tn of large-diameter pipes (LDP), which is 22% less than in 2007 (943,989 tn).

The VSW Wheel Rolling Facility produced 782,874 railroad wheels, or 5% lower than in 2007 (820,680 wheels).

In 2008, Gubakha Coke manufactured and shipped to customers 484.2 thousand tn of bulk coke and processed 59.9 thousand tn of coal pitch, which exceeded the results achieved in 2007 by 9.8% and 16.5% respectively.

The qualitative parameters of bulk coke were high throughout the year; the average annual mechanical strength index of coke M25 was 87%, which exceeds the average annual figure of 2007.

Chusovoy Metallurgical Works output of finished rolled products was 9.4 thousand tn in December 2008. Its output of rolled products reached 380.8 thousand tn from the beginning of 2008, or 68.5 thousand tn less than in the equivalent period in 2007 (449.3 thousand tn). 

Steel production was 13.6 thousand tn in December 2008. In total, Chusovoy Metallurgical Works made 464.0 thousand tn of steel from the beginning of 2008, which is 51.1 thousand tn less compared with the corresponding period in 2007 (515.1 thousand tn).
