Regulator frowns on mergers in metallurgy
The Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service is not keen on the consolidation of metallurgical companies partly owned by the government, head of the service's industry supervision department Alexei Ulyanov said during today's CIS Metals Summit. Commenting on the potential merger between metallurgical companies, he indicated that the service had not received any documents related to the matter. If the service does receive any such documents, Ulyanov noted, the service's decision will be negative, just as it was in the case of the Gazprom and SUEK merger. The official maintains that such mergers do not bring about any positive effect.
