New position of president reporting directly to Director General inducted at Norilsk Nickel
OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter - MMC Norilsk Nickel, the Company or MMC) informs that its organizational structure has changed: a position of President is inducted at the Company as of August 2, 2010. The President will report directly to General Director Vladimir Strzhalkovsky.
The President will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Corporate Strategy of the Company, improvement of corporate governance, and for the activities aimed at the growth of MMC market capitalization. Furthermore, the President will oversee any potential merger & acquisition transactions.
Pursuant to the order of the General Director, Andrey Klishas is appointed to this position.
“The management of the Company highly appreciates professional skills and experience of Andrey Klishas. I would like to note that this appointment should not be interpreted as the strengthening of positions of one of our shareholders, Interros Holding Company, but rather as the reinforcement of MMC management team. If you will, it may also be regarded as the restoration of balance on the Board of Directors, which now includes three representatives of major shareholders (Interros Holding Company and Rusal), three independent directors and four representatives of Norilsk Nickel top management”, said Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of the Company.
