Freight One Hauled 220,000 Metric Tons of Iron Ore from East Siberia in February
A total of 220,000 metric tons of iron ore concentrate were hauled in Freight One cars from East Siberian deposits in February 2011.

The ore is hauled from Yevrazruda Company’s Irbinsky (Bolshaya Irba) Plant and Krastsvetmet Company’s Krasnokamensk Plant in Krasnoyarsk territory as well as Mechel Company’s Korshunov Mining Plant in Irkutsk province mostly to the West Siberian and Novokuznetsk smelters in Kemerovo province.

The concentrate from the Irbinsky and Krasnokamensk mines is hauled in empty Freight One gondolas coming from the east, which makes it possible to haul the ore to Yevraz Group’s West Siberian smelters in just 18 hours. As part of the project to haul concentrate from the Korshunov Mining Plant, Freight One has developed a logistics route scheme for hauling coal from the Irbeysk mine in Krasnoyarsk territory to the Ust-Ilim and Bratsk (TETS-6) cogeneration plants in Irkutsk province. After the coal is unloaded, some of the cars are immediately loaded with iron ore, thereby greatly increasing efficiency.

Freight One hauled a total of 71,200 metric tons of coal from the Irbeysk Coal Mine in the north of Irkutsk province in the first two months of 2011, an increase of 17.2% over the same period of last year.
