Norilsk Nickel and Department of mineral resources of South Africa sign strategic partnership declaration

Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, the General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (the Company) and Sandile Noxgina, the Director General of the Department of Mineral Resources of South Africa, had a business meeting in RSA on Tuesday, March 29.

To further the agreements reached at the meeting of Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, the General Director of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, and D.Zuma, the President of South Africa, the Company and the Department of Mineral Resources signed the Declaration of Strategic Partnership. The partnership aims at implementing lucrative mineral resource development projects in South Africa.

As part of the strategic partnership the Department of Mineral Resources gave support to Norilsk Nickel’s engagement jointly with the South African Industrial Development Corporation in establishing the National Mining and Prospecting Fund. The Fund will form strategic resource base for main types of mineral resources in South Africa.
