VYKSA Steel Works (located in the Nizhny Novgorod region, part of United Metallurgical Company “OMK”, JSC) initiated a priority reconstruction project of electric pipe-welding plant #2, part of small and medium diameter pipes complex. Site work expected to continue until mid 2013 will enable to increase output up to 300k tons per year.

The first and second mills will be replaced by three new high-tech automated mills designed to produce profile, as well as small diameter water supply and gas pipes with improved consumer properties.

In the end of July the VYKSA Steel Works completed the procedure of selecting of main equipment supplier for the reconstruction works being Olimpia 80 (Italy). Gimeco and GTC companies are to supply processing and automatic packaging lines. The new lines are designed for the production of pipes 12.7-60mm, 21-89mm and 40-133mm in diameter. The modernization of the mills will allow pipe production with wall thickness of 0.8 to 6mm.

Modernization of electric small and medium diameter pipe-welding plant #2 will enable to increase output, reduce the production cost, discharge coefficient of metal and increase the coefficient of efficient utilization of equipment up to 80%.
