Bratsk Aluminum Smelter accelerates delivery of aluminum to ports
Bratsk aluminum will be delivered to sea ports almost twice faster. In August, Bratsk Aluminum Smelter developed first “aluminum” freight consignor routes, a freight train consisting on an average of 60 railway cars with the total weight of about 5.500k tons.
Previously, Bratsk Aluminum Smelter metallurgists were unable to send products using consignor routes. The natural slope of the railway (which belongs to Russian Railways Corporation), from Zavodskaya to Bagulnaya station, and the restriction of the weight load on a shunting locomotive made it impossible to bring out multi-ton route to the line for products sending. Revision of the scheme of interaction with the railroad management helped to solve the problem.
“Now, experts of the railway department of Bratsk Aluminum Smelter form a route on factory railways and deliver it on the station of the Russian Railways using two carload groups. Delivery of commercial products using direct consignor routes eliminates sorting railway cars at the railway stations. This reduces transportation costs and speeds up delivery to the final destination”, says Alexey Ignatev, The Chief of Transport Department.
The commercial management experts of the Bratsk Aluminum Smelter plan to send at least three of these routes monthly.
