MMK summed up the results for innovative activity
The main contribution to the formation of science and technology policy and implementation of innovative activity in the MMK, JSC makes scientific and technical center. Its structure includes the Central Laboratory of plant’s control, patent-licensing group, and a research and development group. Boris Dubrovsky, Director General of MMK, JSC stated that, the centers work is oriented on several different areas. The key one is the development of production technologies and the development of new range on the newly introduced and existing units of MMK.
First and most important area is high-quality automotive metal sheet and the range of metal products for the pipe industry. Another important area is the development of efficient production technologies in order to reduce production costs, as well as carrying out the construction work in order to produce new equipment, designed to reduce technogenic pressure on the environment, increase reliability and resource saving.
In 2010, MMK implemented 71 contracts on carrying out scientific research. These studies involve almost the entire production chain of the steel mill. 82 contracts and 57 scientific research projects are conducted by Central laboratory and the structural units of MMK, JSC in 2011.
In 2011, MMK has become co-executor of another scientific research work with TSNIICHERMET on the following subject: “Creating a new generation of steels and functional coatings that provide increased resource of heavy charged machinery exploitation, elements of metallurgical equipment, parts for road construction and agricultural equipment”.
In 2012, it is planned to continue the program for the development of innovative activities in the MMK Group. Particular attention will be paid to the development and implementation of low-cost and fast pay off projects aimed at resource saving.
